How do you get to Ponckhockie ?

It's really easy...

First - you need to know how to say Ponckhockie - so that if you get lost, you will be able to ask for directions. Ponckhockie is pronounced by combining the sound of POND (but drop the "D") as a prefix to HOCKEY (as in the game !)...  See - that was easy!

Now - you need to realize that Ponckhockie is a residential area in Kingston NY (zip 12401).

If you are coming from the north or south - you may consider taking the NY State Thruway to Exit 19 (Kingston)... then exit the Thruway onto the Round-about (yes Prayer is advisable before entering the Round-about ).  

As you enter the Round-about... stay in the Right Lane... you will go by incoming traffic from Route 28... then skip the Washington Avenue Exit... and then IMMEDIATELY bear RIGHT onto the worlds shortest Interstate (I-587) also known as Chandler Drive.

If you miss the Exit... just go around and try again...

Now that you have successfully entered I-587... stay in the Right Hand Lane... and continue to the intersection with Albany Ave and Broadway... Go STRAIGHT thru the intersection and merge with traffic --- You should now be on Broadway.

Continue down Broadway - going past UPAC (Ulster Performing Arts Center), an Underpass (aka THE underpass), The YMCA, Kingston High School, Kingston Hospital, Burger King (on your left) and one block past BK... turn LEFT at the Stewarts Ice Cream Store...

You are now on Delaware Avenue...  Go STRAIGHT to the Stop Sign

Now go STRAIGHT thru this interection... Heading toward the signs that say Route 9W - but do not take Route 9W... instead drive OVER 9W (although this is never referred to as the overpass... so as not to confuse it with the UNDERPASS you saw on Broadway)... as soon as you go over Route 9W -- keep to your right --- You should STILL be on Delaware Avenue.

On Delaware Ave - you will now go past the White Eagle Hall, Hasbrouck Park and then down a steep hill... as you go down that hill - at the end of the Rock Wall on your Right... you will see Abruyn Street and the Church will also be in view as you come down the hill..

Make a RIGHT turn onto  Abruyn Street.  There is parking available in back of the church... just go down one block on Abruyn Street - the make two rights... drive straight one block and parking is on your right.

NOTE: when you come down the hill - do NOT attempt to make a sharp right -- the road is blocked with iron / steel posts and a barrier.
